When Jimmy Tomczack moved in to his new place by the lake, he hadn’t really thought his invention would take the footwear world by storm. The young entrepreneur who opts to walk barefoot as much as possible has come up with a unique line of shoes made from recycled billboards dubbed Paperfeet. He was looking for something that would protect his soles from the hot asphalt and at the same time give him the comfy feeling of walking barefoot.
So, one day, he decided to create some sort of revolutionary footwear that had to be tear resistant, waterproof and light enough to make people feel like they were actually barefoot.
At first, he tried using Tyveck, a material used in FedEx envelopes , but even though it was puncture-proof and waterproof, it was way too thin for footwear. But when someone suggested he use an old billboard as tarp for his leaky roof, Mr. Tomczak knew he had found the material he was looking for. And this is how Jimmy’s ‘Foot condoms’ were created.
Also, he could make 100 pairs of Paperfeet shoes from just one billboard. And given that each one is made from a different section of the billboard, each one is entirely unique. Jimmy is also making quite a profit when you consider that he buys one billboard for about $20 and sells each pair of Paper Feet for $30. However, the smart guy very intelligently puts up that the velcro that goes on the instep strap doesn’t come cheap. He also claims that the majority of consumers are wearing Paper Feet at spas.
Jimmy admits he has high hopes of making big money from his unique line of footwear, but he also wants to help his home state by offering jobs to the American people recovering from the recession. Right now he’s just trying to get his Paper Feet in retail outlets before the summer clothing lines hit the shelves.
